Does your tea come in teabags?
Yes! Our most popular teas are available in teabags here. We also sell empty teabags so you can turn any loose leaf tea into an on-the-go treat!
What is 'loose leaf tea'?
Loose leaf tea refers to the format that the tea leaves come as. Most of us will be familiar with teabags, but loose leaf tea opens your options in terms of higher quality and a fantastic range to try at better prices. Explore our range here.
How much is postage and packaging?
Within the UK, we send our parcels first and second class with Royal Mail, and so postage is in line with their rates. Internationally, we typically also send parcels via Royal Mail, however this does mean that anything over 2kg must be sent as more than one parcel and postage will be calculated at checkout and charged accordingly based on this. We do not charge for packaging.
Can I place an order to pick up in your Winchester shop?
There is not currently a way to do this online, however if you telephone our shop on +44(0)1962 868760, we can usually prepare tea for pickup with a days' notice.
Do you ever have special offers?
We have frequent special offers! These are advertised on our website, but the best way to be kept in the loop is to sign up for our mailing list.
How do I sign up for your mailing list?
At the bottom of the page there is a box in which you can write your email address to be sent our special offers!
Can I cancel or edit my order?
We try to get your tea to you as soon as we can, but there is a brief window between placing an order and us getting it to the Post Office. The most time-efficient way to contact us about an order is by telephoning the shop at +44(0)1962 868760. Alternatively, you can email enquiries@charteas.com
Can I choose my free samples?
You can request specific samples and we will try our best to make sure you have teas you want to try. Sometimes requesting a specific tea sample can help our tea experts get a better idea of what teas you are interested in and open up new flavour horizons! However, it is not always possible to send specific tea samples, especially during busier periods.
My order is a gift - can you remove prices?
Of course! During the winter holiday period, we will remove all pricing to be safe, but please add a note in your 'order notes' section to make sure if ordering at any other time.
Do you have caffeine free/decaf teas?
We have a wide and ever-growing selection of caffeine-free teas here, and we have one decaf tea to rule them all here available in loose leaf and teabag formats. Fun fact: one of our staff did a blind taste-testing of all of our Assam teas and could not tell this one was decaffeinated. It was in their top three!
What is the shelf life of your teas?
We have a 'best before' date of around one year. However, tea can be consumed beyond this 'best before' date, provided you avoid the "Enemies of Tea": Heat, Moisture, Light, and Oxygen. So, keep your tea in an airtight container and in a cool, dark space such as a kitchen cupboard and consume with joy.
Are your teas fair trade?
At Char, we are very proud to be helping put a stop to the link between tea consumption and inhumane working conditions. Therefore, all of our tea is sourced ethically from tea gardens where workers are free citizens and paid a fair wage.
What does 'natural flavourings' mean?
'Natural flavourings' is listed amongst the ingredients of several of our flavoured teas. It refers to components, extracts, essences, and oils that have only been derived from natural raw materials.
Do you do NHS/teacher/student discounts?
We are sorry to say that we do not offer discounts as we try to bring you high quality tea at the lowest price we are able to.
Is your packaging recyclable?
Our resealable tea pouches offer optimal protection against moisture, light and oxygen. They are not recyclable, but are excellent vessels for storing tea well over several refills. If you come into our Winchester shop, we are happy to refill your tea pouches, or whatever container you use.
