Discover more about Russian Caravan Tea

Was this the tea sipped by Anna Karenina? It's certainly possible! In 1618 the Chinese ambassador presented Tsar Alexis with a gift of several chests of tea and so began the Russian tea tradition. After the treaty of Nerchinsk in 1689 camel caravans started to transport tea from China to Russia. The journey was long and difficult and took up to 16 months, but the use of camel caravans is the origin of name Russian Caravan tea.

Smoky Russian Caravan has been a firm favourite at my house for some time now.

I enjoy its warm musty flavours and also it's fragrance.

If you like a robust cup of tea this one's for you!

Smoky Russian Caravan Tea

For lovers of Lapsang Souchong but giving a milder brew. I only add 1 x tsp per 2 x cup pot or a large mug. Lovely on an autumnal afternoon!

Try it in a flask on a woodland walk

This is my go-to everyday tea. The smokiness is a little more subtle than Lapsang Souchong. I drink it without milk. Highly recommended in a flask out on a long hike through the woods - nothing better.
